5 Reasons Why Your Air Conditioner May Not Feel Cool

When the temperature starts rising outdoors, you depend on your air conditioner to keep your residence comfortable. Your AC may be on, but the air coming from your vents seems lukewarm.

Here are the most frequent reasons why this occurs and what you need to do about it. If you have to have air conditioning repair in Calgary, the Experts at A1 Chesney Service Experts can support you. Like always, all our AC repair work is upheld by a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.*

1.Your Thermostat is Set Wrong

Look at the fan setting. If it is switched to “on,” the fan will blow even when the AC compressor isn’t working. This is okay, but your cooling expenses will be more expensive if the fan operates constantly. Change the setting to “auto,” and the blower will only run when the compressor is working. This also means the air coming from the vents will consistently seem chilly.

2.Filter Need to be Changed

The HVAC air filter traps airborne particles that can ruin your heating and cooling units. If it gets too clogged, it can reduce airflow. This restricts how much warm air flows over the indoor evaporator coil. If the refrigerant moving through the coil becomes too chilled, it freezes, stopping the cooling cycle from taking place. To prevent this, replace the filter every month or as suggested by the manufacturer.

3.Not Enough Refrigerant

Refrigerant is essential for air conditioning. It shifts from a low-pressure gas to a high-pressure liquid as it cycles between the indoor evaporator coil and outdoor condensing unit. If the refrigerant is low, your air conditioner will cool badly and may not create sufficient chilled air. It may also cause a frozen evaporator coil, which as we mentioned before, halts the cooling cycle fully. You’ll need assistance from an HVAC tech, like one from A1 Chesney Service Experts, to solve any refrigerant problems.

4.Condensing Unit Need to be Cleaned

The outdoor piece of your AC unit is known as a condenser. This is actually a large heat sink that exhausts hot air from your home. If the metal fins are clogged with yard debris, the condenser can’t run well. Wash down the equipment to remove debris that builds up and shear back grass to make sure the condenser isn’t blocked.

5.Condenser Fan or Compressor has Gone Bad

While you’re checking the condenser, ensure the big fan on the top of the unit is working. If the fan motor has gone out, the condensing unit can’t break up heat appropriately, and your air conditioner may start sending muggy air into your home.

Pay attention to the sound of the compressor running in the condensing unit as well. This is what drives your air conditioner, as the part lowers the temperature of the refrigerant. Then, the refrigerant can trap more warmth when it circulates back into your house. If the compressor goes out, you’ll probably need to get a new air conditioner and set air conditioning installation
