What causes indoor air pollution?

Many common items may cause bad indoor air quality in your Calgary house.

This includes:

  • Chemicals in [carpet, furniture and drapes that emit fumes
  • Cleaning products
  • Paint
  • Personal care products
  • Air fresheners and candles

Though they are often more efficient, updated homes don’t have fresh air the way older houses do. Snug weather stripping and storm doors keep inside air in and outside air out. This provides better energy savings, but the lowered exchange of outdoor and indoor air can trigger pollutants increasing inside.

In these circumstances, a whole-house ventilation system is suggested. Ventilation systems replace polluted inside air for more breathable outside air without giving up energy savings.
