A1 Chesney Service Experts sponsors Olympic Hopeful

While Rio is hard at work preparing for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games that will take place this fall, Anastasia Bucsis is also working hard, but gearing up for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

A1 Chesney Service Experts in Calgary is excited to announce they will be sponsoring Anastasia, a long track speed skater, on her journey to represent Canada in the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games in South Korea. As if being an Olympic hopeful isn’t a significant enough achievement, Anastasia previously represented Canada in the Vancouver and Sochi Olympic Games, as well as in 46 World Cups and six World Championships.

Anastasia first began speed skating at only four years old, after her original ambitions of being a figure skater were changed when her parents realized their daughter may be taller than average for that sport. They placed her in lessons for long track speed skating, one of the oldest Olympic sports, and now, more than 20 years later, Anastasia trains an unbelievable six hours a day, six days a week.

“I think my strongest performances still lie ahead of me, but I wouldn’t have an opportunity to get there if it wasn’t for a great support system, and A1 Chesney Service Experts has given me a huge boost toward my goal, and idealy a gold medal.”

A1 Chesney Service Experts will award Anastasia with $10,000 in 2016, in addition to $2,500 they provided her in late 2015.

“Anastasia embodies the discipline and long-term devotion that it takes to be an expert in your field,” said Anthony Beddow, General Manager at A1 Chesney Service Experts. “She’s a local girl who has reached the top tier of her field on an international level, and we think that applies to our business as well.”

We look forward to keeping up with Anastasia over the next couple of months as she competes in World Cup events in Norway and the Netherlands and takes part in two World Spring Championships in South Korea and Russia. Sometime in between training for the Olympics and competing, Anastasia plans to graduate this May from the University of Calgary with a degree in communications.
